OZ & WILDE: FX4 CHRIST
PRESS RELEASE

Mention the words "magic show" to most church fellowships, and they wouldn’t even consider it. But two magicians, billing themselves as Oz and Wilde: Effects for Christ, have taken their cartoonish styled tricks, set them to Christ teaching comedy routines, and have been sharing the gospel in a variety of church denominations with very positive reviews. "We quickly steer away from words like 'magic' and 'illusion' to describe what we do," explains Kif Anderson who plays the part of Wilde, the spiritual misfit. "We just refer to them as ‘effects’ or object lessons."

"The audience knows they are experiencing some trickery," adds Gene "Oz" Oswald, “but that just helps keep them wondering what will happen next. We find that they walk away remembering the mayhem and message more than any trick that was performed."

International organization The Fellowship of Christian Magicians, which Oswald and Anderson are active members, exists to promote the art known as "gospel magic." However that concept is often considered to be an oxymoron by many Christian churches. This is due to “magic” being commonly associated with the occult and witchcraft which is forbidden in the Bible. "We don't strive to be magical, just humorous," notes Anderson. "Everyone loves to laugh. So we put our characters in funny situations that have unexpected results, usually involving an effect or two. It captivates the minds of young and old alike. So we find not only kids, but teens and adults enjoy what we do."

Filled with Biblical truths, witty comedy and colorful apparatus, Oz and Wilde: Effects for Christ is having a positive impact on churches where they have been invited to share. But when asked to describe what they do, they usually point to the overheard words of a child explaining to another what they are about to see. "That’s Oz. He's the smart one. And that's Wilde. He’s the silly one. They're gonna tell us about Jesus."

Oz and Wilde have been performing and teaching others how to use creative storytelling and objects lessons to groups for many years now. They have lectured for Christian groups and fellowships, Children’s Leaders, Toastmasters, civic groups and at the Magic Castle of Hollywood.
